Ingredients

1 (16 oz) Package green split peas, sorted & rinsed
2 Cups cooked ham, diced
3 Carrots
3 Potatoes, diced
1/2 Cup onion, diced
3 Celery ribs, diced
2 Cloves garlic, minced
1 Bay leave
12 Parsley sprigs, snipped
1 Tablespoon seasoned salt
1/2 Teaspoon fresh ground pepper
6 Cups water

Instructions

Prepare ingredients by dicing carrots etc and layer ingredients in crockpot in order listed. Do not stir to mix. Pour water gently over layers. Cover and cook on HIGH for 4 to 5 hours or LOW for 8 to 10 hours until peas are soft. Remove bay leaf; mash peas to thicken, if desired, or stir to blend soup. Top with croutons if desired.
