Ingredients
1/2 pound ground pork sausage
1 Pound beef stew meat, chopped
1 Garlic clove, minced
2 (14 1/2 oz) Cans diced tomatoes with green chilies
1 (28 oz) Can baked beans or pinto beans
1 Cup fresh mushrooms, halved
1 Cup frozen pearl onions
1 large red bell pepper, seeded & chopped
3 to 6 Jalapeno peppers, seeded & chopped
1 (18 oz) Bottle barbecue sauce
2 Teaspoons brown sugar
1/2 Teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 Teaspoon salt
1/4 Teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions
In a large skillet, cook sausage stirring frequently, until browned; drain fat and set aside. In same skillet, cook beef until browned, stirring frequently. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more. Transfer sausage and beef mixture to a 5 to 6 quart crockpot.
Add tomatoes, beans, mushrooms, onions, peppers, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, black pepper, salt and red pepper flakes and 2 cups water. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours or on HIGH for 4 to 5 hours.
