Ingredients
2 3/4 Cups flour
2 Teaspoons cream of tartar
1 Teaspoon baking soda
1/2 Teaspoon salt
1 1/2 Cups sugar
1 Cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
2 Eggs
4 Teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Additional sugar for rolling
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400�F.
Mix flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl.
Beat sugar and butter in a large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well
Gradually beat in flour mixture on low speed until well mixed.
Shape dough into 1� balls and roll in additional sugar. Place 2�apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake in preheated oven for 6 to 8 minutes or until lightly browned; cool on baking sheet for 1 minute.
Remove to wire racks and cool completely.
