Ingredients

1 Pound dried green or yellow split peas
2 Tablespoons olive oil
1 Large onion, chopped
2 Cloves garlic, minced
1 Large potato, peeled & diced
2 Carrots, peeled & thinly sliced
1 Stalk celery, thinly sliced
1 Ham bone or 1 small ham steak trimmed of all fat & diced
2 Teaspoons dry marjoram
1 Teaspoon salt
1/8 Teaspoon pepper
8 Cups water
Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

Rinse and sort dried peas in a colander under cold water. Heat olive oil in pressure cooker over medium heat, add onion and garlic and cook until onion is soft. Add potato, carrots, celery, ham bone, marjoram, salt & pepper. Cook for 2 minutes. Add split peas and water. Stir well.
Cover and bring to high pressure. Lower heat to stabilize pressure and cook for 10 minutes.
Remove from heat. Use quick release method to release steam; season with salt & pepper to taste.
