Saut� pecans in butter. Reserve all. Soften cream cheese with a mixer; blend in sour cream and garlic salt. Add onion and beef last, being careful not to over process. Spread evenly in 1 1/2 quart lightly greased baking dish, top with pecan mixture and bake for 20 minutes at 350F.
Spread on crackers.
For a hearty ham spread, you may wish to use shaved ham and chopped green onions.
