Ingredients

8 Ounces beef steak, cut into 1 inch squares
1/4 Teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 Teaspoon sugar
1 Tablespoon fish sauce
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1 Clove garlic, chopped
1 Small onion, sliced thin
1 Green bell pepper, cut into cubes
1 (4 ounce) Can sliced bamboo shoots, drained
1 Firm tomato, cut into wedges
2 Green onions, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
2 Tablespoons soy or oyster sauce
2 Teaspoons cornstarch

Instructions

Mix beef with black pepper, sugar & fish sauce and marinate for15 to 20 minutes. Heat oil in wok or frying pan over high heat and stir-fry garlic and onion about 1 minute. Add the beef and stir-fry one minute. Add the bell peppers, bamboo shoots, tomato and green onions. Stir-fry 2 to 3 minutes then blend in soy or oyster sauce. Mix the cornstarch with 1 tablespoon water and stir into mixture. Cook, stirring until thickened. Serve with long grain white rice.
