Ingredients

2 Pounds ground beef
1 1/2 Teaspoons salt
1/4 Teaspoon pepper
2 Eggs
1 Large onion, chopped
1 Cup soft breadcrumbs
1/2 Cup tomato juice
1/4 Cup hot vegetable shortening or drippings
1/4 Cup flour
1/2 Cup water
2 Cups sour cream
1 Tablespoon fresh dill, chop[ped
Or
1 Teaspoon dry dill seed
Salt & paprika to taste

Instructions

Mix beef, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, pepper, eggs, onion, crumbs and tomato juice. Shape into 1 1/2" balls; brown in hot oil.
Remove meatballs and drain off drippings, leaving about 1/4 cup in pan. Stir in flour. Gradually stir in water. Stir in sour cream and dill.
Cook, stirring until mixture bubbles and thickens. Season with salt and paprika, add meatballs and reheat.
